Secret rooms

Bug and espionage safe rooms are a niche in which IAC Acoustics A/S has specialised. The rooms are used for the storage of confidential documents and conversations between officers and officials with security clearances.

Secret room

Bug-safe and espionage-safe rooms form the setting for the storage of confidential documents and conversations between security cleared officers and officials.

Sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) og Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF)

Our expertise with this type of facilities comes from the many SCIF and SAPF rooms we have built in the US. These projects set a precedent for the facilities we build in Europe, where standards are less well defined. The rooms are built based on common standards for secret rooms written for the air force, navy and army.

Bug-safe and espionage-safe rooms

TheBug-safe and espionage-safe rooms can be built as containers, which can be sent along on missions or as stationary facilities in existing buildings. IAC Acoustics has experience in building secret rooms which comply with standards such as:

  • TEMPEST
  • JAFAN 6/9
  • DCID 6/9
  • ICD 705

As a point of departure, all our secret rooms are designed with:

  • 5mm exterior steel plate
  • Bars covering all ventilation openings
  • Secure doors with special, "unpickable" locking mechanisms
  • Entry alarms
  • UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
  • Signal filter on all incoming or outgoing signals
  • Regular lights and electricity
  • Vault

Usually, it is requested that the secret room meets a cross between the different standards and requirements, so that the SCIF og SAPF room eventually meets the actual needs rather than fictitious needs arising from standards and international rules.

Secret rooms with EMI/RF-shielding

Authorities and companies working with classified information can use different types of EMI/RF shielded secret rooms or Faraday Cages to avoid that e.g. compromising signals can be picked up by eavesdropping. In addition, the EMI/RF shielded room protects against harmful signals being sent in. Radio frequency (RF) shielding is often chosen as standard in mutiple SCIF and SAPF designs, precisely to secure the space and the information shared within it.
